Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke is a very creative jazz singer, composer, arranger of her own discographic projects and an experimenter of sound languages. Her dramatic intensity and vocal ductility have allowed her to deal with extremely different repertoires collaborating with the most important Italian musicians.

“I’ll be seeing you” – Diverso Lontano Incomprensibile (ART196 2020)

Sculptor and painter, graduated with honors both in the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and the Lucio Campiani Conservatory of Mantua, she is a singer specialized in the repertoire of classical jazz, with a particular profound knowledge of the ancient forms of jazz combined with an authentic taste for research and experimental attitude that make her an internationally active artist.

In March 2012 she is the only foreigner guest at the exclusive “A tribute to Bix” Festival, Wisconsin (USA), performing lot of concerts with Dalton Ridenhour (piano, New York) and with Andy Schumm (cornet, Chicago). From this collaboration was born the “Racine Connection” album published by the American label Rivermont Records in 2012 produced by Bryan Wright.

In April 2012 Vanessa started an intense collaboration with Mauro Ottolini’s Sousaphonix Orchestra, recording four albums for Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome: “Bix Factor” in 2012, “Musica per una società senza pensieri Vol. 1”, “Musica per una società senza pensieri Vol.2” in 2015 and “Buster Kluster” for Azzurra Music 2016.

In 2015 Vanessa recorded “Contradanza” published by Mario Caccia for Abeat Records, experimental and contaminated by free jazz and rock atmospheres, this is her debut album in Italy, which receives extraordinary reviews on the most important national newspapers and magazines for the great quality of artistic research, technical realization and musical contents. Vanessa sings with: Ethan Uslan, three times winner of the “World Championship Old time Piano Playing” of Peoria (IL, USA), Mauro Ottolini, Giovanni Maier, Vincenzo Vasi, Dario Buccino, Gaetano Alfonsi, Enrico Terragnoli, Mauro Costantini.

In 2016 Artesuono by Stefano Amerio released the album “We Like it Hot”, live recording in quartet with Paolo Birro, Francesco Bearzatti and Mauro Ottolini. In 2017 Azzurra Music by Marco Rossi releases “Nocturnes”, a work totally dedicated to the repertoire of Edith Piaf and contaminated with twentieth century French music, by Eric Satie, Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré and jazz taste. Here Vanessa collaborates with Paolo Birro at the piano and Andrea Bettini.

In 2017, edited by Enrico de Angelis for Ala Bianca Records, “Tra la Via Aurelia e il West” comes out in which Vanessa personally re-reads pieces by Francesco Guccini with the San Remo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vince Tempera, in the album Vanessa sings with Carmen Consoli, Roberto Vecchioni, John de Leo, Cristina Donà, Bocephus King, Pacifico, Leonardo Pieraccioni.

In 2017 Azzurra music produces the record of Mauro Ottolini “Tenco come ti vedono gli altri” in which Vanessa participates singing with Gino Paoli, Daniele Silvestri, Alberto Fortis, Petra Magoni, Vincenzo Vasi. 

In 2018 for the same label “Sea Shell” by Mauro Ottolini was released. The first album in the world all performed by playing a real orchestra of sea shells modified and played by the phenomenal artistry of Mauro Ottolini. Vanessa is author of the lyrics and vocal artist on “La reina de las conchas” and “What can I do for mother earth”, directing a children choir of her own. 

In 2019 Vanessa is envolved in Fabrizio Bosso’s new collaboration with Mauro Ottolini, she is the lead vocalist on Storyville Story Project, a fine research on the magnetic repertoire of William Christopher Handy, played in sextet with Fabrizio Bosso, Mauro Ottolini, Paolo Birro, Paolo Mappa, Glauco Benedetti. The Umbria Jazz Live recordings of the concerts in Morlacchi Theater of Perugia are published in 2020 by Auditorium Parco Della Musica, Rome under the label Parco della Musica Records under the title of “Storyville Story”.

In 2020 Artesuono by Stefano Amerio released the album “Diverso Lontano Incomprensibile”, with Paolo Birro, Francesco Bearzatti, Michele Rabbia, Giovanni Maier, Salvatore Maiore, Enrico Terragnoli: jazz combo with strings. A wide experimental work in between asian – middle eastern music and jazz, contaminated by a taste for french contemporary classical music. Vanessa is once again either composer, arranger and performer of the whole tracklist.

In 2022 Azzurra Music publishes The Princess Theater, an intense and passionate reflection on song form, a tribute to the artistic collaboration between Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke and Paolo Birro with extraordinary guest Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet on two original songs.

Vanessa has participated in the most prestigious Italian festivals (Umbria Jazz, Time in Jazz Berchidda, MITO, Ravello Jazz Festival, Metastasio Jazz Festival, Torino Jazz festival, Italian festival in Thailand, Umbria Jazz China, Crossroads Jazz Festival, Jazzowa Jesien Festival Poland, Treviso Suona Jazz Festival, Padova Jazz Festival, Verona Jazz, Vicenza Jazz Festival and many others)
