Liner Notes by Enrico Rava:
“It’s like a magic chest: we open it to discover twelve wonders, which tell us about Vanessa’s world. An extraordinary artist. Painter, sculptor, composer and above all a singer with a unique voice capable of striking us directly to the heart. Her expressiveness and her ability to convey her emotions are very rare qualities that make her a great interpreter.”
Ascolta “La Scomparsa” (Testo e Musica di Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke):
The Princess of the Night is a mysterious and surprisingly luminous figure, who will guide you in a search for the deep connection between Duke Ellington’s music, the Afro-Cuban roots and the French Impressionism of the twentieth century that transforms into an ecstatic narration made of original songs composed and arranged by Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke and lyrics that blend poetry and jazz composition.

The vivid musical sources of Billy Strayhorn, Olivier Messiaen, Ernesto Lecuona, Claude Debussy, Ettore Pozzoli naturally flow into this ocean, reverberating their light on the music written by Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke and on the improvisational incursions of Giulio Scaramella.
This iridescent lineup gives Vanessa the opportunity to show off all her vocal talent, in which the natural gift of a particularly dynamic and extended voice coexists with the fruits of a wise control of intonation, breathing, and phrasing. Each syllable is illuminated from within, charged with meaning and emotion.
Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke is a specialist in the classical jazz repertoire: her deep knowledge of the vocal forms of the origins of jazz is internationally recognized. Since 2012 she has collaborated assiduously with Mauro Ottolini, involving him in her projects and taking part in some of his famous groups, in particular Sousaphonix, the sextet Storyville Story with Fabrizio Bosso and more recently “Nada Màs Fuerte”. In 2014 Vanessa was ‘adopted’ by Club Tenco, which repeatedly invited her to perform at the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo in the company of other great exponents of Italian song such as Morgan, Carmen Consoli, Roberto Vecchioni, Rossana Casale, John De Leo, Marina Rei, Roy Paci…
